From Upcountry Maui to Olowalu Beaches, Maui Has a Diverse Landscape

Upcountry MauiDay 12. On this day of our trip to Maui, Hawaii we kept things at a slower pace than normal and included a quick stop at Seabury Hall, located in Makawao, Hawaii. Seabury Hall is perched on the slopes of Haleakala overlooking the rest of Maui. With island and Pacific Ocean views, it is truly unlike any other school I’ve seen before. We found out about the school through our good friends and local residents Steve & Stephanie. They currently have one of their daughters at Seabury Hall and suggested we visit the school.

Seabury Hall is a private co-ed educational college preparatory day school with grades six through 12. The school’s curriculum follows one of a successful college prep experience. If fosters passion for lifelong development of mind, body and character, and inspires responsible citizenship.[1] Just walking the grounds really makes you feel like you’re at a resort. The views alone are worth the tuition.

Every time Kari and I visit the island of Hawaii, we fall more and more in love with the idea of moving there, Maui in particular. Visiting schools in Maui makes us feel like our dream of moving to Hawaii is closer than we think. Seabury Hall is a highly accredited school and has won many academic awards.  This school really seems to be the top school on Maui and would be a perfect school for Makena to attend. Seabury Hall is not only a prestigious preparatory school, the architecture and foliage found throughout the campus are breathtaking. Although we had a slow and relaxing day, I never pass up the opportunity to capture footage. And it’s Hawaii…so I can never get enough footage.

Upcountry MauiAnother perk of having the Guerpo’s out with us on this trip is that we get to share video footage of our trip. Case in point, when we were at Seabury Hall, Randon was able to get some behind the scenes video of me filming the architecture, beautiful grounds and of course the views of Maui. But of course having our best friends on the trip is special all on it’s own.

Day 13. On this trip, we were scheduled to film two properties, along with other lifestyle footage. And on Day 13, we had a special treat waiting for us on the West side of Maui. One of the homes we were filming was located just south of Lahaina, in the town of Olowalu. Just a short 10min drive to Lahaina and 20mins to Ka’annapali Coast, the home is situated on a prime location

We were also fortunate enough to be staying in the house for a few days which meant I could really get to know the house and the area. Honestly, I wish I could do this with every house I film. I really get to feel the house and discover much more than I would otherwise.

Sitting on almost an acre, this home is surrounded by coconut groves, beautiful landscaping, and is truly the epitome of an oceanfront property. The Olowalu reef is just a few steps from your backdoor where you can experience secluded, pristine waters of Maui, Hi. The home has a jaw-dropping backdrop, namely, the Pu’u Kukui Mountains. Either way you look, there’s something beautiful waiting to take your breath away. This custom-built three bedroom three bath home is really a slice of heaven.

You can probably guess that we didn’t want to leave the house once we got there. So, for the remainder of the day, we stayed at the house, Upcountry Mauiwatched the sunset, and settled in for the evening. Oh and of course the sunset did not disappoint.

This Olowalu home has what many would call an iconic symbol of island living…a hammock just feet from the water. What better place to watch the sunset then on the hammock with my beautiful wife and daughter. It’s always in moments like these that make all the hard work really worth it all.

Until next time, Aloha!
