Real Estate Vlog Tips: How Being Authentic is More Important Than Ever Before

Real Estate Vlog | Being Authentic | Video Marketing (1)The Power of Being Authentic

After finishing up a day of filming another “Day in the Life” vlog episode with Amber Anderson, I wanted to share some tips and tricks for creating successful vlogs. Everyday is jam-packed and unique, so there’s always something new to learn along the way.

At a quick glance:

  1. Rule of Threes
  2. Strategize Broll
  3. Authenticity

Rule of Threes. We always try to follow the “Rule of Threes” when filming a vlog. This means we hit 3 points of interest. This can be an event, a specific location, a topic, or any other item that helps tell the story. This helps pack in as much valuable information as possible but keep the video fast-paced and interesting.

In this case, this vlog included an 1) office segment 2) appt segment and 3) event segment. Earlier in the day we filmed some shots of Amber in her office, then followed along with her to her filming appointment (which happened to be with VideoSellsRealEstate.com) for one of her La Jolla listings. Later we headed to an event hosted by Steve Games, Pacific Sotheby’s International Realty’s CEO, which was put on to welcome new team members and celebrate the company’s success. A variety of topics and locations is important to showcase the wide range of work your subject does.

Strategize Broll. Last but not least, we always make sure to organize and strategize our b-roll so that we have footage that can be repurposed over and over again. By getting audio/sound bites of Amber interacting with clients and team members, and capturing Amber’s day-to-day activities, We’re able to collect useful content to add to countless other videos. This can come in the form of property videos, interactions with clients or colleagues, montages of properties or any other relevant content. Multitasking like this saves time and effort in the long run and really stretches our client’s dollar.

Being Authentic. During the office segment, Amber filmed a “Facebook Live” so she could connect with some of her viewers, but unfortunately she ran into a few technical difficulties. Although frustrating, these situations are sometimes a blessing in disguise. By including unplanned moments like this that appear as obstacles, we were able to show a raw, authentic side of Amber that is sometimes missed among all the polished, professional videos that we create and produce fo her. These moments of vulnerability and real life add value and interest to a vlog and allow viewers to connect to with their subject.

By using these tips, your vlogs can be more personable and intriguing to viewers. They’ll save you tons of valuable time during filming and editing, and will ensure that your end product is as effective as possible. So to recap: use the rule of threes, strategize and organize your b-roll and include authentic moments.

Happy vlogging!
