War Room Tactics to Give You an Edge
Have you ever looked at a before and after photo of a president? They tend to age substantially, especially if there were major events like a war going on in their presidency.
During the last days of World War II, a reporter commented on how President Harry Truman appeared to be doing a good job handling the pressure and stress of his presidency and the war.
President Harry Truman was asked what his secret was that allowed him to stay focused, energetic and to keep the negativity at bay. He said, “I have a foxhole in my mind.” He went on to say that just like a soldier has a foxhole for protection, rest and recuperation, he periodically retreated to his mental foxhole where he allowed nothing to bother him.
I think this is a great strategy in dealing with outside stressors. Similarly we all have to create a mental room or space in our minds where we can retreat and find our peace again.
Bridget Carlson has literally & physically created a “War Room” in her home where she feels most productive, effective and fulfilled. I”m sure she has a mental room similar to her war room where she finds the right motivators to get her to her goals. Bridget says this has been an effective strategy for her both mentally and physically to get the growth she’s looking for.
Some takeaways regarding her Mindset:
- Don’t take things personally – you don’t know what the other person is going through or what type of call they just got off of before chatting with you.
- Follow a system – this will ensure you’re able to monitor your progress and make corrections along the way.
