This week on #MindsetCheck, we have a very interesting guest who shares her story with us. Her name is Adriana Romero and she’s an entrepreneur who has three kids of her own. Adriana shares her story with us and it’s one that we can all identify in some way. She talks about how being from an unstable home influenced the way she approaches life now as well as what motivates her daily routine. She also shares why she home-schools three children while also running San Diego Limo Boss – which was unfortunately shut down during covid. The business is back up now, but the shutdown was hard on her and her family. Below we have a few questions we asked Adriana with her answers.
Q: How were you guys impacted over the last few years when the pandemic hit?
A: I’m not going to lie, I wasn’t always strong. I took it day by day. I believe in my higher power which helped me get through it with the power of positivity.
Q: How did your belief in a higher power and a higher power for yourself help you push forward?
A: I was basically raised in this super strict church. It messed with my mind. I didn’t feel settled, happy, or free. Once I started to feed my mind in a different way, my mindset changed. Because of my experience with religion, I’ve steered my beliefs in a higher power away from religiosity.
Q: How are you addressing your challenges now pre-pandemic?
A: Well, I’m doing it very differently now depending on the challenges. I think the biggest change I can see is that I don’t react so quickly. By doing this, I can be more careful with the words I use which are hard to do when you want to be right.
Q: How has your upbringing affected your life?
A: My upbringing wasn’t the most beautiful. I dealt with a lot of mental and emotional abuse that I found myself almost becoming that way. I didn’t want to be what I didn’t like. When I became a mom, I knew I had to be better for them.
Adriana is an inspiration to us all. She showed strength and power in her words when she said that life has been difficult for her, but it’s important we learn from our experiences so they don’t define who we are as people or how far we can go with what happens along our journey through this world. I think one thing Adriana mentioned was learning not to react quite quickly – I know personally sometimes my emotions take over before even realizing why because there were multiple triggers happening at once (especially frustration). If you take one thing from today’s episode, remember don’t react to your problems but solve them.
