Exploring South Shore Maui, HI | Travel Vlog Day 4

Kama’ole beachDay 4 of exploring the South Shore Maui, Hawaii.  Waking up any day is a gift. Waking up in Maui, Hawaii even more amazing. Waking up to my daughter and beautiful wife, while in Maui, Hawaii…truly a blessing beyond words!

The day started with us getting into the car packed full of gear and snacks in preparation for day filled with adventures – our end destination being Makena Beach, the very beach we named our daughter after.

First stop Kihei. We stopped by a local Starbucks to pick up some much-needed refreshments and some camera time in the parking lot. Makena showed off her cute outfit: a Turbans for Tots bowtie, a  Little Adi + Company shirt and cute blue bloomers.

We got back on the road and headed to Kama’ole Beach to capture some amazing views as and enjoy some nice playtime in the shade under the giant trees. This beach is a perfect mix of sand and Kama’ole beachgrassy areas for picnics and playing, which is why we ended up making it our lunch spot several times on this trip, especially because this is a perfect spot for Makena to take a nap.

Kama’ole beach is a magical place along Maui’s southern coast where sand and surf make for the perfect swimming conditions. After Makena woke up from her nap, we jumped in the water for some much needed swimming…oh and of course the water was the ideal  temperature.

Snorkeling is popular in this area and since the water was clear, I took my underwater camera (a.k.a. my GoPro) out for a spin. As I swam along the shore and under the waves, the water was clear enough to see the white sandy ocean floor. I was also greeted by a school of fish and even several sea turtles.

Half our day was spent at Kama’ole Beach and we were filled with gratitude, but we had one more spot to visit before wrapping up our day. This next stop is very special to us for obvious reasons. Kama’ole beachMakena Beach, also known as “Big Beach” never disappoints.

We set up camp along the shoreline and eagerly awaited sunset. I had just enough time to set up a timelapse with the sun in the perfect position and the right lighting, making for a perfecting ending to a great day on Maui.
