Filming Facebook live videos is a growing trend and we recently had an opportunity to film an episode of Facebook Live for real estate at Cardiff Beach, Encinitas CA. We traveled to this exact location due to the train and local lifestyle. The train crossing around Cardiff Beach, Encinitas, was most appealing to our team. We were trying to get a shot of the train coming from northern Solana Beach and going all the way down to south Encinitas.
A lot of people don’t recognize or realize that there is a lot of work and energy that goes into filming just one single shot. You have to do research. You gotta find the schedule for local events. You have to time it and get your guys different parts of the location. You have to find the right time to film in connection with the suns location at different times of the day.
Thankfully conditions were right and it was a beautiful day – which helped the shot to turn out really nice. It was a little hazy and that effects aerial shots the most. When we fly you can really see the haze in the sky due to the the wide angle and visibility.
During our Facebook Live for real estate, we realized that getting a stabilizer for my iPhone would be ideal because when I’m doing these live feeds, it’d be ideal to have something a little bit more stable than be rocking back and forth. (update: we have since purchased the OSMO Mobile which the entire team loves)
We were fortunate enough to have a day where we could take Milo, our team’s mascot, along for a day of filming. We filmed all over San Diego County that day but at all places that were dog-friendly. With a newborn at home, I try to get him out of the house as much as possible to give my wife Kari a break and an opportunity to just focus on taking care of our daughter Makena.
I’m really enjoying these Facebook Live for real estate videos as they allow for lots of interaction with viewers and there’s nothing quite like watching something live.
